Topic 9: Intimacy
Before this class, I believed that most adolescents believed intimacy, love, disclosure and commitment to be feelings that adolescents were only beginning to feel towards a partner. I know realize that these emotions are just as complex as other human emotions. Adolescence is a time when kids begin to feel intimacy with close friends and exhibit more self-disclosure (McMahan and Thompson, 2015, p. 337). I realized that adolescent relationships must be treated with respect since they play such a huge part in the development of adolescents. Successful friendship form the foundation for the ability to create lasting partnerships.
